” As a member of the Ginn family I just want to thank you for your efforts in restoring this park. I had a chance to visit ithe park and my great grandfather’s carriage house on Ginn Road for the first time this past summer with my mother and brother. My mother had spent a bit of time there as a child so it was particularly special for her to return and see that some things had not changed appreciably in almost 70 years. As a former commisioner of parks and recreation in Chatham I am quite familiar with the gravity of your undertaking and think it’s great that community efforts can still make a difference. This spirit is very in keeping with what Edwin Ginn had in mind for future generations. ”

“I moved to Winchester from Charlestown, where I had been accustomed to walking to a local playground to meet other new mothers. Winchester’s “approachable” downtown was part of its appeal to me, and Ginn playground’s central location made it a natural spot to gravitate. Although the conditions of the playground were pretty grim, I found myself, and others like me, spending many mornings pushing our children on the swings and watching them tackle the playstructures. I have formed great friendships from those early days at Ginn. It saddens me that the playground is now in such bad shape that those who know of other places to go, or have the means to, do seek out other locations. Ginn Playground has amazing potential to be a destination and landmark for Winchester. This should be a place of which our townspeople are proud. I hope that its restoration will ensure that new families continue to visit, and form bonds as they watch their children play and grow.
I hope that my “generation” of mothers will be the last that bonded over Ginn’s deploraable condition, and hope for Winchester that a new “generation” sees Ginn as a gateway of possibility, and a shining example of what makes our community so wonderful.”

“Ginn has been the best social networking tool imaginable. When we first moved here, the friends I met sitting around the sandbox or pushing the swings together continue to be my “go-to” buddies. I miss being able to go to Ginn and run into friendly faces. There’s no better place to meet other moms and randomly share the joys and struggles of parenthood.
Mother of a 7 year old, 5 year old and 3 year old
I met some of my best friends at GINN Playground while watching my two boys play for hours on the playstructures. Ginn Playground saved me on many long afternoons.
